Is there anything else that needs to be done after I receive my residence card?

You will need to visit the city/ward office where your new residence is located, within 14 days from moving into the property. You will be required to present your passport and residence card and notify them of your new residential address. They will then write the new address on the backside of your card and endorse it. Once this has been completed, you will officially be acknowledged as a resident in Japan and be able to do such things as open a bank account, apply for a mobile phone,, etc.
