Which countries’ license holders are exempted from taking the written and driving (road) test?

If you possess a valid driver’s license issued in one of the following countries, you are able to obtain a Japanese license without taking the written and driving test. If your license is from a country that is not listed, you do need to take a test.

Iceland, Ireland, England, Italy, Austria, Australia, Netherlands, Canada, South Korea, Greece, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Finland, France, Belgium, Portugal, Luxemburg, and Taiwan.
