What’s interesting in Minato-ku?

Minato-ku has the most foreign residents of any ward in Tokyo and in many ways this reflects the very international flavor one will find there. With international supermarkets and restaurants, international schools, the multi-lingual services available at the ward office, Minato-ku often leads the way in Tokyo in its ability to create a more multi-cultural environment.

To start, Akasaka is a large residential and commercial area in northern Minato, with large office and residential towers and many restaurants. The US Embassy is also located here. Nearby is Roppongi, a high-class residential area and Tokyo’s best-known nightlife district, especially popular among foreigners, and also home to the Roppongi Hills complex and Tokyo Midtown. There are a wide variety of cuisines available and many restaurants in which you can order in English. Azabu is the heart of the foreign residential area of Minato, and the Tokyo American Club can be found in east or Higashi Azabu. Shinagawa is another hub with both Bullet train and other long distance train connections and an array of commuter train lines from where transportation in and out of Tokyo is smooth and easy.
